Studio time

Plans are go! Heading into February I have plunged into a buying frenzy I never thought possible.  So far, the studio is taking shape - industrial sewing machine, tailors shears, pattern cutting paper, rulers, new table to name a few!

My cutting table is basically two work benches put together, which I'm able to cram rolls of fabric, patterns, and equipment underneath.  A roll of Harris tweed has been ordered and I imagine about now it's being woven in a shed at the end of someone's garden!  As well as tweed I am sourcing fabrics such as velvets and linings to complete the ensemble of beautiful coats.  Working towards setting up a shop on my website for the smaller items and start thinking about how I will display my work at highland shows this year.

This month I have also been to the big city lights of Inverness, where I had a meeting with Maggie & Suzi's boutique.  They are launching a Scottish designers section in their store from March, so my one-off coats are now with them.  I also met with the talented Sam Goates at Woven in the Bone.  Sam weaves beautiful tweed and I will be collaborating with her over the next couple of months.  I shall design a limited collection of waistcoats using this Woven in the Bone tweed.

Waistcoats will be available from the website soon..  Above is a sneak peek at the Woven in the Bone tweeds..

In the meantime currently working on pattern making and getting outside as much as possible while this February weather is sunny!!
