Podcast Adventures

February has been a month promising new beginnings - I have started a new job teaching sewing and also started a podcast with a friend of mine. It’s been a short month, but a busy month - making me see more around me than I had once before.

Podcasting is something I never thought I’d do, sure enough I listen to a lot of podcasts, but the idea of sitting behind a microphone talking about a subject for long enough was something I didn’t think I could manage. This podcast is completely different to my bespoke designs. This podcast is named Aspiring Authors, where myself and my good friend Hayley talk about trying our best to be writers with the aim of releasing our books, all the while documenting our tips and experiences along the way. You may have come across in my last few posts that I have been looking in other directions and eager to pursue new avenues. I find having a few different interests is a good thing and through those interests, they seem to fuel me and inspire in a way that make me feel I am spreading my wings, seeing that it’s such a big world out there. I do style love my designing and sewing tailored pieces, but I am getting excited by new and fresh possibilities to keep moving forward, exploring everything I love, rather than one small aspect.

So as you may have read in previous posts, I had started writing a book. Well as the months have past, I had finished that book and in the process of editing it in hopes of releasing it (this year would be amazing!). I enjoy writing so much, it has always given me joy. Even writing this blog in some ways has encouraged me to continue writing and see what opportunities are out there. So from that first book it has led on to me writing another, with hopes of writing more.

So it’s all very exiting, both myself and Hayley have been writing on and off for a number of years now - but we consider ourselves very much in the amateur department of things. But that certainly doesn’t stop our passion and goal of both becoming authors.

Over the next few months we are documenting our progress, covering all things such as editing, sending manuscripts to agents, writing process and then delving into the other areas that affect writers such as self-doubt and fear.

On this journey I am already learning new skills like editing, which has encouraged me to slow down, but is not good for the perfectionist inside me - I never know when to stop! Also using a microphone and setting up a sound booth in my bedroom has been interesting too!

So I thought I’d keep you all posted on new updates, and if you have any interest in listening to two friends chatting (very informally!) about making it as authors, then our first episode has just gone live!
